Dad endures hell over missing daughter |
A DISTRAUGHT father has appealed for his five-year-old daughter to be
returned after she was taken from a Redcliffe school north of Brisbane
last month.
The Australian Federal Police have been searching for Chloe
Rooney-Brookes and her mother, Fiona Lee Rooney, since Chloe went
missing after a Family Court custody dispute.
Her father, Marcus Brookes, said he had not seen Chloe since March 6, when he went away for a few days on business.
Mr Brookes said Chloe stayed with his partner Kim Gould at their Woody Point home while he was away.
"Before I went away she was asleep when I left – I gave her a kiss goodbye and I told her to be good," he said.
"I rang her every day and she was telling me how good things were going at school."
It is believed Chloe was taken from Humpybong State School on March 11
and is in the custody of Ms Rooney, or people associated with her.
The Family Court of Australia has issued a publication order to help find Ms Rooney and Chloe.
"I am desperately worried for Chloe," Mr Brookes said. "I have no idea
where she could be but I pray every day that she is safe and well and
will be home with me soon."
Mr Brookes said he was concerned about the well-being of his little girl.
"We think they've been staying in a lot of abandoned houses," he said.
"It's been a big month and a half."
Mr Brookes had been awarded custody of Chloe and the Family Court has
issued a recovery order to have her returned to her father.
"Mate I've been through absolute hell with this," Mr Brookes told The Courier-Mail.
"All I want to see is Chloe smiling again, having a good time and knowing she has a bed to sleep in."
Chloe Brookes-Rooney has a fair complexion, blonde hair and blue eyes.
The Family Court spokeswoman said Chloe and Ms Rooney were last seen at
Chermside and had also been sighted at Sandgate, Stafford, Noosa,
Maroochydore and Stones Corner.
Fiona Rooney, 22, was described as 170cm tall with a slim to medium build.
She has a tan complexion, brown eyes and black or dyed burgundy hair.
