After more than a year apart from her children, Perth woman Jane day's heartbreak is over.
She is due to to return to Perth this morning with her children who she alleges were abducted by relatives.
In April, The West Australian, reported that Mrs Day, 33, of Wilson,
had seen Alison and Justin Chan only once since May last year.
At that time she said that after a disagreement while visiting her
parents in Malaysia they had thrown her out of their house, where
Alison,3, and Justin, 4, were also staying and kept her the children's
passports.
Forced to return to Perth without them she proved her right to custody
in WA's Family Court and returned to Malaysia in April. Although she
saw the children briefly in Malaysia, she had not seen them again until
last month.
Her new husband, Geoff Day, said in Perth this week that the couple
established that Mrs Day's former husband, Alan Kwong Lun Chan, a Hong
Kong resident, had traveled with the children between Hong Kong and
China.
Mr Day said Hong Kong official had helped find the children last month
as they were about to leave China. He said that Mrs Day had reached an
agreement with Mr Chan. A court order enabled her to bring the children
home.
Mr Day said his wife had feared she would never see her children again. She was overjoyed to reach the end of the ordeal.
Mr Day is the co-founder of a support group, Hug-Ur-Kids, for parents in similar predicaments.
Mr day said he knew of unresolved cases involving 15 WA parents and children who had been abducted.
The group plans to lobby the Federal Government to take a tougher stance on the issue.
