The children were in fact Australian citizens, even thought they were born in Malaysia - thier father wanted easy access for them to study or live in Australia in the future. Jacqueline did nothing more than a loving mother would do for her children - fight for and protect her children's safety and well being. She was trapped in a foreign country with her children, what did you expect her to do - leave her children behind to be abused and kept prisoner, as she was? - Allison Falzon

About Jacqueline Pascarl-Gillespie

They were born in Malaysia to a Malaysian father and hadMalaysian birth certificates.
Jacqueline returned to Australia in 1985 taking them on their Malaysian passports!
Even Jacqueline and Raja were married in Malaysia under the Malaysian law.
Why the matter be brought up in Australia?

It was wrong to keep two Malaysian children in Australia.
*It was a case of ABDUCTION in Malaysian views.

It was not wrong to a father to want to be with his children.
*Clearly the children settled happily in Malaysia. Unfortunately all the publications about the children had been banned in Australia since May 1993 by actions from Jacqueline and
her lawyers at the Australia's Family Court.

*The Australian press had reported the children's return to Malaysia as kidnapping.

I totally agree with GiselleA, the wife of the Sydney businessman whom Jacqueline had an affair with. Ms Gillespie returned to Australia on false pretences, with the Prince's children, with absolutely no intention on returning to Malaysia - it was okay for Ms Gillespie to 'steal' her children from their father, Raja Bahrin, but not right for him to have them returned by any means available. They are Malaysian Citizens. It is nice and easy for a Court to hear a case Ex parte, with no defence available for the unrepresented father (or mother). I am glad to hear that Raja had his children for the best part of their lives - growing up in their early years. He has done the right the right thing and now it is up to the children to make their own decisions about what happened and the conduct of their mother. The Family Court, nor legal representatives, nor media should support what Ms Gillespie had attempted to do with their children as, in the eyes of any person or Court, this act of stealing the children away from their father, was definitely not in "the best interests of the children" - Dean

Fact: The Australian government failed to persuade Malaysian authorities to return the Malaysian-born, Iddin and Shahirah who were taken to Malaysia by their Malaysian natural father in July 1992.

Those children, Iddin and Shahirah were born in Malaysia to a Malaysian father. She returned to Australia in 1985 taking her Malaysian-born children with her and knowing full she was not returned. Then the children were baptised and their names changed without their Muslim\'s father wishes..
Raja Bahrin used as a point to take his children..

The wife of the Sydney businessman whom Jacqueline Gillespie began an affair with, whilst still married to journalist Iain Gillespie, is a leading divorce lawyer. After returning to his wife and dumping Jacqueline, whose manipulative attempts to get him to leave his wife included attempting to slash her wrists in the bath, finally failed - Jacqueline made a last ditch effort to have him attend the birth of their child. When he asked if wife if it was okay to attend, his wife stated \"sure, as long as I can come too\". He did not attend the birth and it is rumoured he gave Jacqueline a payout to finally rid himself of her. - GiselleA
