First and foremost this section is about the Do's and Don'ts on engaging recovery teams or agents.
HUKO whilst it is renowned for helping left behind parents with legal advice, steps and procedures in obtaining legal documentation needed to help in the recovery of parentally abducted children, we also network with Recovery teams, who's specialty if you like is recoverying these parentally abducted children, and with great success we may add.
HOWEVER - what we want to emphasise is we do NOT go looking for these types of cases, and parents should be pretty skeptical about so called recovery teams approaching them offering their services, or discounted service charges to help them.
Recovery services are big business globally, with so many so called big guns, or professionally out fitted units giving great spiels only to take your money and run.
Parental Child Abduction groups are linked in with many of the actual genuine professionals so stick with the groups you know and trust who have YOUR'S and your CHILDS best interests at heart.
Once you commit yourself to engaging a recovery agent or team, it is like a contract, it is binding financially so make sure you read all the fine print, there are actual service providers out there whom do not complete the service engaged, but hit the parent up for the entire bill that was contracted to initially and in many cases this is legal and binding.
Again there are unscrupulious dealers in this area whom make many claims to fame for their services, and some in their own hey day may have been excellent in their field of expertise, but they lack morals and integrity these days and just take your money and run and provide no services.
If your going to engage a recovery team or agent here are a few pointers:
1) Make sure they are a legally registered business entity 2) What is their own background or professional services they are capable of providing 3) Their past history - can this be verified 4) Have they recovered children in the region your seeking 5) Again can they verifiy this 6) What are the actual charges associated with a recovery that they invoice you for 7) Ask what sort of time lines are involved 8) Ask what type of legal documentation is needed on your own behalf to engage their services
And here is why we have put this information you should be asking.
1) If the recovery agent or team are LEGITIMATE they will have registered the business via the legal channels in the respective country they are from, just like HUKO we are a legitmate entity who is registered with the Australian Authorities simply do a check on our status, and any legitimate recovery team would do the same, if they are not registered KEEP THE HECK AWAY because chances are you'll be throwing your money away.
And yes we know of dodgy operators who are quite well known in this arena who are NOT reigstered and yes they take your money and do nothing for it, but give you excellent bullshit responses in return, and in many cases intimidate you and make you feel stupid for questioning their professionalism, and even threaten to cease services if you keep questioning them. YOU are paying for a service, you have every right to question what is happening...!!!\\
2) A legitimate recovery team or agent will have experience in law enforcement, law enforcement procedures, military background either on the ground or in intelligence and intelligence gathering, as well as a network of operatives in these fields, any decent agent or team can also verify their experience by simple documentation, if they cannot, then steer clear again you'll be throwing your money away.
3) Past histories of recoveries are easily trackable, there is an abundance of publicly available documentation, as well as past parents who have used a particular agents or teams services, that is indepedantly available to parents wishing to take up an agents or teams services.
4) Most importantly engage an agent or team who has actually done recoveries in the area you wish to engage them for, no use using a service provider who has no idea on the area you want them for, or no network on the ground you want them for, you may as well go in and do it yourself you'll be saving your own time, money and aggravation in the process.
5) Verification of Number # 4 is easy enough for recovery agents to provide parents upon request. Make sure all information they give you checks out, do some Googling yourself as there is always foot prints of cases.
6) Any decent recovery agent or team already have a list of expenses you as the parent are expected to pay in a recovery that encompasses the fee's structure, ask them for it, this gives you a better idea of what's expected of you financially.
7) Time lines whilst not exact, most recovery teams or agents have certain ideas in mind in how they can get your job done with the information you've provided, majority of recoveries can take between 2 weeks to 2 months to initiate and execute - this type of service cannot be done over night as there are certain legalities, and procedures taken from a recvery teams aspect that must be undertaken.
And yes they will investigate your legal claim to custody or ability to engage a recovery service.
8) Any decent recovery team or agent will most definately conduct an interview which will determine if your commencing a recovery service for all the right reasons, NO they are not making decisions if you are a fit parent or not, but in many cases recoveries are conducted for vindictive purposes, and some immoral and emotionally bankrupt recovery agents who do this work for monetary gain only do not care about your intentions.
A recovery should only be conducted for all the RIGHT reasons, not to get back at your spouse or retain the child or children for bartering purposes.
Hence why recovery experts will ask you for a variety of documents including custodial paperwork and orders granted in Family Court.
We hope this information will help stop you from being ripped off by dodgy operators.
Common questions that get asked of us here at HUKO is are we Recovery Agents - simple answer NO we are not recovery agents, BUT we do work closely with one group of people with exceptional records of success in this field, thus saving a parent a massive amount of grief and mis fortune by only dealing with respectable operators.
A common mis-conception is this service is cheap and affordable by everyone - WRONG - it is and can be very expensive, there is NEVER ever any guarantee of success of the outcome you want or desire.
Any Agent / Team that guarantee's you success - RUN..!!!
There are so many factors that get taken into account with any recovery, hence why it is expensive and sometimes time consuming, DO NOT ever get fooled into thinking this is a quick fix and that money can buy you your desired outcome.
To give you an approximation of an average recovery costs it is anywhere from $90,000 and can surpass $250,000 depending on the recovery and what's involved.
